Sevanikethan Conducted Summer Camps for Children Across Seven Centres

Sevanikethan successfully organized a series of summer camps for children at seven convents under the St. Mathew's Province.
The camps were conducted at Parel, Payippad, Muttar, Chanjodi, Vadakkekara, Parampuzha, and Nedumanni, bringing together a total of 165
children.
The camps were conducted based on the module provided by the Generalate, ensuring a well-structured and enriching experience for all participants. Throughout the programme, children engaged in a variety of educational, recreational, and value-based activities designed to promote their holistic development. The camps were honoured by the presence of elected representatives, parish priests, and members of the laity, who participated as distinguished guests and encouraged the children with their presence and interactions.
Through these summer camps, Sevanikethan reaffirmed its commitment to nurturing children by providing meaningful learning experiences in a joyful and supportive environment.

Summer Camp Training of Trainers (ToT)

Sevanikethan successfully organized the Summer Camp Training of Trainers (ToT) on 5 May 2026 at Sevanikethan Thiruhrudayanivas Special School, preparing facilitators and volunteers for an exciting and impactful summer camp. 🌟

The programme was inaugurated by Rev. Sr. Lince Maria SH, Director of Sevanikethan, who shared valuable guidance and inspiration for the camp. Sr. Alby SH and Sr. Rani Mathew SH also graced the occasion. 🙏

The training sessions were facilitated by Soumya Joseph, Bibin K. Thomas, and Neenu John, with the enthusiastic participation of SESP teachers, volunteers, and MSW students from SB College. 👩‍🏫👨‍🎓

✨ Around 30 participants joined the programme, strengthening their skills to make this year's summer camp a memorable and enriching experience for every child. 💙

PROGENY: Awareness Sessions on Developmental Milestones of children

As part of PROGENY – Awareness Session for Parents and Caregivers on Developmental Milestones, Sevanikethan, in collaboration with the Kottayam District Women & Child Development Department, conducted two awareness sessions for ICDS Madappally Anganwadi Workers and Helpers on 20 & 21 February 2026.

The sessions focused on enhancing participants' understanding of developmental milestones in children. As part of the project's research component, Pre-test and Post-test assessments were conducted using a structured questionnaire to evaluate learning outcomes.
The sessions were facilitated by Soumya Joseph and Bibin K. Thomas, with an enthusiastic participation of 170 Anganwadi workers and helpers over the two days.

Together, we continue to strengthen early childhood care through awareness, research, and community collaboration.

SHG Leaders' Training Programme & Seva Federation Election 2026

Sevanikethan successfully organized the SHG Leaders' Training Programme and Seva Federation Election 2026 at Sevanikethan Thiruhrudaya Nivas Special School. The programme was inaugurated by Rev. Dr. Sr. Salomy Joseph SH, General Councillor for Social Work. Sr. Lince Maria SH, Director of Sevanikethan, welcomed the gathering.

A thought-provoking session on "Inclusive Empowerment" was led by Dr. Joseph Antony(Mark & Phil Associates), followed by the Seva Federation election. The newly elected representatives took their oath under the leadership of Rev. Dr. Sr. Salomy Joseph SH, and were felicitated by Rev. Sr. Philo Jose SH, Vicar Provincial & Evangelisation Councillor.

The event also featured the distribution of prizes for the Christmas Carol and Bible Writing competitions, along with the launch of ID card distribution for SHG members. The programme was coordinated by the Sevanikethan–Sahrudeya team , with the enthusiastic participation of around 70 SHG members.

PROGENY: Awareness Session for Anganwadi Workers and Helpers on Developmental Milestones

As part of PROGENY: Awareness Session for Parents and Caregivers on Developmental Milestones, a project of Sevanikethan, an awareness programme was successfully conducted in collaboration with the District Women and Child Development Office, Kottayam . The sessions were held on 15th and 16th January 2026 for Anganwadi Workers and Helpers of ICDS Madappally Additional. 👩‍👧‍👦📚
A structured Pre-test and Post-test was administered using the research questionnaire developed as part of the project, to assess the participants’ knowledge and learning outcomes. 📝📊 The sessions were taken by Ms. Soumya Joseph and Mr. Bibin K Thomas, staff members of Sevanikethan.👥✨

A total of 104 participants actively took part in the programme, making the sessions engaging and impactful. 🌱🤝

This initiative marks an important step towards strengthening the understanding of developmental milestones among frontline childcare providers and enhancing early childhood care and development services in the district. 🌟

Celebrated the International Day of Persons with Disabilities with a Stress Management & Mental Health Session.

Under the leadership of Sevanikethan, a special session on “Stress Management and Mental Health” was conducted for the staff of Thiruhrudaya Nivas Special School on Friday, 05 December 2025, as part of the observance of the International Day of Persons with Disabilities.
The session was led by Mr. George Daniel Peedika, Director of Salmi Mental Health and Training Centre, who facilitated an engaging, activity-oriented workshop for the staff. Sevanikethan team members Smt. Soumya Joseph and Mr. Bibin K. Thomas coordinated the programme. A total of 27 participants attended the session, which concluded at around 12:30 PM. The evaluation feedback clearly indicated that the session was highly beneficial and impactful for all participants.

World Heart Day

Under the initiative of Sevanikethan, World Heart Day ❤️ was observed at Thiruhrudayanivas Special School. Rev. Sr. Lince Maria SH, Director of Sevanikethan, delivered the welcome address 🙏. Dr. Balu Devaraj, Junior Resident Officer, Accident and Trauma Care Unit, SH Medical Centre, Kottayam, conducted a session on the topic “Healthy Heart and Healthy Life.” 🩺 The doctor explained and demonstrated basic first aid procedures such as CPR and the Heimlich maneuver, highlighting their importance during emergencies 🚑. The session was informative and useful for all participants, followed by a question-and-answer segment to clarify their doubts 💬.
Rev. Sr. Flower Jose SH, Principal of Thiruhrudayanivas Special School, proposed the vote of thanks 🌸. About 130 participants attended the session, which concluded by 12:30 PM.

Poovili 2K25 – Onam Celebration at Sevaniketan

Changanassery S.H. St. Mathews Province’s Social Work Agency, Sevaniketan, organized its annual Onam celebration “Poovili 2K25” for SESP, SHG, and Sarathy members. The program began with a warm welcome address by Rev. Sr. Lince Maria SH, Director of Sevaniketan. Rev. Dr. Sr. Salome SH, General Counselor of Social Work, graced the occasion as the chief guest. Rev. Fr. Jacob Varikkat, Vicar of St. Mary’s Church Parel, and Mr. Mathews George, Vice Chairman of Changanassery Municipality, also offered their greetings and felicitations.
A symbolic highlight of the event was the official handing over of the SHG bylaws, financial register, and minute book to SHG members by Rev. Sr. Vimal Jose SH, Education Councilor of St. Mathews Province, and Rev. Dr. Sr. Salomi SH, General Councilor of Social Work.
Adding festive spirit to the day, members participated enthusiastically in traditional competitions such as Kaikottikali and Onapattu, along with other Onam-themed contests. Winners were awarded prizes in recognition of their talents.
The vote of thanks was delivered by Rev. Sr. Joslin SH, Mother Superior of Paippad SH Convent. The celebrations, attended by nearly 250 participants, concluded with an Onam Sadya, bringing the community together in joy and fellowship.

Training Program on making Household Cleaning Products

To promote self-sufficiency among parents, Sevanikethan hosted a hands-on training session on July 31st at St. Joseph UP School, Veliyanad. The session focused on the preparation of soap oil, washing machine liquid, toilet cleaner, washing powder, and floor cleaner. School Headmistress Sr. Treesa SH warmly welcomed all to the training program. Mrs. Soumya Joseph, Program Officer at Sevanikethan, gave an introduction to the training, which was led by Mrs. Mini Sibichen. The session was Coordinated by Saharudaya staff member Ms. Nimisha V Sebastian and Sevanikethan staff Mr. Bibin K Thomas. All participants found the training to be highly useful and practical.

Athijeevanam : Cancer and Kdiney Disease Pateints Gathering

As part of “Athijeevanam”, a program organized by Sevanikethan for cancer and kidney patients, a special gathering was held on Thursday, July 24, 2025, at 2:30 PM at Sevanikethan Thiruhrudaya Nivas Special School.
Rev. Sr. Lince Maria S.H., Director of Sevanikethan, delivered the introductory message. The yoga therapy session led by Itrachan Sir provided energy and confidence to all participants. Fr. Sibin Palakkal, Assistant Vicar of St. Mary’s Church Parel conveyed his greetings.
The gathering, attended by around 35 participants, concluded with a fellowship meal.

World Environment Day Celebration

Sevanikethan marked the occasion with a dual celebration of sustainability and community spirit at Changanassery. In honour of the tireless contributions of the Harithakarmasena, a special program was held at the Changanassery Municipality. Municipality Chairperson Mrs. Krishna Kumari Rajashekaran applauded the unwavering dedication of these green warriors who work relentlessly to keep our environment clean and vibrant. The event was further enriched by the presence of the Vice Chairperson and other distinguished guests. 💚
